Summer Music!

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Oh the fucking irony. When i’m about to post some summer music, matching with all the sun we had the last week, the weather sucks big time. But untill then, this music will be the sun in your lives! Just like last year, another summer post! We offer you some happy and shiny music, hooray! Some music you’ll already know, other tracks you don’t! Some are classics, some are not. Check it out:

The Lovin’ Spoonful – Summer In The City

An old track (from 1966!) but what a great and sunny track! A great starter and this is just the beginning! We are awesome! Be sure to check this version by Regina Spector – Summer in the city

Martha Reeves & The Vandellas – (Your Love is Like A) Heat Wave

An even older track (1963!) but equally awesome and summerish! Some funky and catchy chorus. Only old music can sound like, lovely!

Weezer – Island in the sun

My favourite summertune ever, is made by Weezer! This song is all what vacation and summer is about: pure fun!

Chuck Berry – Johnny B Goode

Another classic, another song that just shows how awesome rock music can be! This is made for a cool summer party!

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – The Impression that i get

Next up: Some ska music! This kind of music is the most happy and summerish music ever! And we offer you a song by Ska legends The Mighty Mighty Bosstones! Great stuff!

Neon Indian – Deadbeat Summer

One of the most summerish songs released last year! Some nice and chilling electronics with a dreamy flow.

Nouvelle Vague – Ca Plane Pour Moi

Nouvelle vague made this classic by Plastic Bertrand in one of the most happy songs ever made!

Major Lazer – Hold the line

Major Lazer made an album full of dancehall and ragga and summer music! The most crazy song for me was “Hold the line” feat. Santigold. Great Product Placement too.

Punks Jump Up – Dance To Our Disco

Punks Jump Up make some really funky and summerish music! ‘Dance to our disco’ is my favourite, check it out!

Discovery – Can You Discover?

The discovery version of the track “Can You Tell?” by Ra Ra Riot. I Prefer this one because this one is like the summer version; happy and awesome!

Rye Rye – Shake it to the ground

Some funky track by hipster Rye Rye. You’ll probably know the remix version, but the original isn’t bad either.

The Drums – Saddest Summer

The most summerish band around these days: The Drums! Their Summertime Ep is great and my favourite song is “Saddest Summer”. Unlike the title, this song is just pure fun and sunshine! My favourite song in this list!

Spinvis – Ik wil alleen maar zwemmen

To close this post: one of the track I listen to most lately. Made by Spinvis and in Dutch… It’s so awesome and the lyrics are magical!

Enjoy this tracks and let’s all pray for the sunshine!

Skank Your Ass Off

Friday, January 16, 2009

Hi my blogfriend!
Because everybody is now hyping RK’ed Kidz instead of Dead Disco Drivers, The Rusty Gods must do something to stop this madness! So we will post something diffrent, this time no shiny electro, fidget, techno, remixes or mash-ups. But some music you really can dance to. It makes you Dance, Skans and have much fun!

So Yes Sir, Here’s Some Ska.

The Aquabats! – Fashion Zombies
A song of my fav Ska band. With these superheroes (yes they really are! check the pic below) you can skank skank skank till you kicked everybody who’s near you :) And the best thing about the Aquabats!: They are coming to Groezrock for an exclusive concert! (the only one in Europe!).

Ska-p – Cannabis

Another legendary Ska band: Ska-p. Everyone who loves ska, knows the song “Cannabis”. and the only words everybody understands is “Legalizacion Cannabis” but the song still kicks ass! They are making a comeback, Hoeray!

Less Than Jake – Does The Lion City Still Roar?
When I was young, Less Than Jake was my favourite band. So this band must have a spot in this ska post! A song from their latest album. But everybody knows the first Cds from a band are always the best, so check those out to!

Reel Big Fish – Sellout
Another Ska Classic! Funky trumpets incl!

Mad Caddies – Macho Nachos
Great Mad Caddies Song! Check out this Video, it’s awesome and gives you an idea what to expect when you go to a mad caddies show!

The Arrogant Sons of Bitches – Radio Single
This time not a classic, just some awesome and crazy ska!

Some other ska bands (legends and new ones) you can check at myspace:
The Toasters
Bomb The Music Industry!
The Aggrolites
The Skatalites

Remember kids, it’s all about the ska!
