After the first post of great minimal tracks, here’s the second one.
I made you a list of 10 of my favourite minimal/tech-house tracks, a lot of which I often use in sets. Don’t be mistaken by the title, don’t expect techno like DJ Coone’s techno, but expect techno that’s made with a lot of feeling and passion. Minimal is not dead!
The first track is Liebe Ist… from Stephan Bodzin’s EP Liebe Ist…Great track, some deep minimal/techno!
Stephan Bodzin – Liebe Ist…
Second we’ve got a remix of Minilogue’s Leopard by Extrawelt. Minilogue makes awesome minimal, and if it gets mixed by artists of this calibre, it can’t go wrong. A must –have!
Minilogue – The Leopard (Extrawelt Remix)
Next up, a weird but intriguing track. It gets of to a rather Tech-house start, but somewhere in the middle they throw in a didgeridoo, just great. Listen and decide if you love or hate it..
Aka Aka – Woody Woodpecker
Somebody who couldn’t be forgotten in this list, is Gui Boratto. Boratto is a Brazilian producer who recently released a new cd, named Take My Breath Away. But I chose a track from a previous cd, Chromophobia. Minimal as deep as it gets.
Gui Boratto – Mr. Decay
With Oxia, you never know what they’ll produce next, some tech-house, hard techno or minimal? This track is a combination of the three, and it’s just great.
Oxia – Domino
And here we’ve got one of my favourites, Solee. This German producer is mostly known from his killer-track ‘Impressed’, but I think this one’s even better!
Solee – Jule
Then, the classic between the classics. Remixed by James Holden, or Mr. Minimal, this great track from Nathan Fake became even greater! Again, a must have. I strongly advise you to listen to this in combination with beautiful weather and decent speakers!
Nathan Fake – The Sky Was Pink (James Holden Remix)
Extrawelt, the guys who remixed Minilogue, also produce some own stuff. Oliver Huntemann laid his hands on their track Trummerfeld, and the result is beautiful. Great climax in this one, but don’t expect a trash/electro-climax, be prepared.
Extrawelt – Trummerfeld (Oliver Huntemann Remix)
And last but not least, Mr. Kalkbrenner. Everybody knows him because of his track ‘Sky and Sand’ but that’s almost an insult when you listen to his other tracks. This is definitely a fine peace of art. Be sure to check his other songs as well if you like this!
Paul Kalkbrenner – Azure
I chose not to end with a minimal-track, but with one of my favourite songs of one of my favourite bands, if not my favourite. Joy Division no longer exists, their lead singer Ian Curtis hung himself in 1980, but they continued as New Order, one of the most influencing bands of the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Joy Division – New Dawn Fades
Hoping you’ll enjoy these tracks, I greet you.
Cheers, Elias from YRD?!
