Nothing special released lately for me. Or at least nothing great. I could share the new Sound of Stereo remix from the Paul Chambers track, but I’m not really impressed by it. Or the new Boys Noize track, but prefer to listen to his old stuff. Or the new remix by Danger, but I prefer his own productions. Or something from that new Bombo Ep. But you can find all of that on every blog and today I feel a bit creative and want to do something else then all the other blogs. So I went on last.fm and searched for some unknown indie bands and electronic trakcs and I’ll give you a selection of the best ones I found. Man, I love Last.fm!

Firs one I found, was while Last.fm scrobbled the wonderful “moan” by Trentemoller. So I searched a tune that sounded a bit like this one. And the result: Gui Boratto! I already knew this guy and had a few tracks on Itunes but didn’t actually take the time to listen carefully. Last.fm recommended “Besides”, and i gotta admit Last.fm got some great taste! Loving this track! The same minimalish vibe like “moan” but with an own twist by Boratto. Lovely! Check it out:

Gui Boratto – Besides

Next band I found while listening to Fool’s Gold. I wanted to find some more sunny and happy music. I asked Last.fm and they gave me a band called Tanlines (known from their tune “Bejan” on Kitsuné compilation 7). Checked out some tracks on myspace and got hooked from the first exotic rythm that came out my speakers. The track “Real life” is such a summerish tune! Drums that make you move like a crazy motherfucker, Some catchy vocals which get stuck in your head and as a bonus, you get some funky synths! 3 reasons to love this band, but first check them out:

Tanlines – Real Life

Third band I found is called Magic Man. Not a great bandname, but the fact they offered a lot of free mp3’s at their last.fm page, got my curious and check out the track “Monster”. After hearing Kanye West’s interpretation of a moster track, I was curious this one could beat Kanye’s track. Logically It couldn’t. But this doesn’t mean this song sucks! Some great vocals on this one! A bit of a Jack White voice, mixed in with some dreamy pop and rock music. Really nice discovery and loads of free downloads at Last. Fm! Get it Get it Get it!

Magic Man Last.fm

Another original band I found is Active Child. Mix Portisheads beats with some Fleet Foxes vocals and you got this great band! Some heavenly (and very high!) vocals, with some triphop beats, deliver a great song for a summerday watching the sunset….

Active Child – Wilderness

And as last one, a band called Baby Monster. I saw their names on a poster today and a few hours later I saw their name on last.fm so I had to check them out. Result? some MGMT sounds (their “new” sound) mixed with some fresh beats and drums! The song I choose is a very cool one! You can even sing along with at when you hear it for the first time! Lovely band to close this post! Check them out and give them some love: Buy the albums! You even got a Golden Bug remix from their track “She Comes Alive”, how cool is that!

Monster Baby – She Comes Alive

Peace!

What’s up bichtes? Feeling all gangsta today, sorry about the tough talk! But I’ll make it up to you! I got some party tracks right here for all of you! Get ready to shake that ass! First to share: the best track this week is one hell of a discotune made by Friendly Fires and Azari & III! These two groups apart make some great stuff, imagine what they sound like together! Beautiful and relaxed disco but with a heavy dancevibe! Especially the vocals “It’s a cold world out there…” make this track such a big tune! LOVE!

Friendly Fires feat. Azari & III – Stay Here

After this hot disco, time to makes things hotter and harder, right? But we’re building up a nice climax so the hardest stuff is kept for the end. That’s why we got an nice electro house tune for you all! Eskimo Twins are killing it lately and getting attention on big blogs like Pelski and artists like Chemical Bros and Fake Blood. Back with a big tune called “Droit”, these guys are ready to conquer the world! Let’s move to this bleeps! If you want another track for free, tweet them!

Eskimo Twins – Droit

Getting harder and harder, time to tell you about Distroize! A fresh Belgian electro duo, which makes tracks to let you destory the place! Raving synths, big beats and bass and some very tight productions. Nothing more needed to destroy a dancefloor! Have a listen on their soundcloud or download their track “Toxic” for free here:

Distroize – Toxic

To close off after the big climax and the hard stuff, time to get everybody back to planet earth with this laidback but oh so funky tune:

Yeah, finished my exams and now it’s vacation time again. For those hard partying people in the academic year and hard studying people now, a few hints to get back into vacation mood! Aka: my favourite summertunes for this year (and I’ll try not to repost anything):

First up is a song from a band who made one of my favourite 2010 cds: Fool’s Gold! I must be the badest blogger around because I’ve listened a million times to this cd and didn’t made a post about how great this band is, sorry for that! But to inform you now: With Fool’s Gold you get nothing else but the best summervibes right here! Some sunny guitars and rythms, like only Vampire Weekend can make (and from now on also Fool’s Gold can make), some Hebrew singing (how cool is that!) and the best part: their cd is full of this! Greaaaaaaaat. Let the summer (re)start right now:

Fool’s Gold – Surprise Hotel

Another track which made my summer is “Baby I’m Yours” by Breakbot. Together with Aeroplane’s “We can’t fly” ony of my favourite disco(ish) tracks this year. This guy knows how to make one very very catchy song! When I listen to this track, I do it for 5 times in a row and slap myself for forgetting how great this track is and not playing this one 24/7. Just have a listen and get funky!

Breakbot – Baby I’m Yours

Third band that made a soundtrack for my summer is the big 2010 hype The Drums. But being hyped is not a reason to dislike a band my dear reader. That’s why we are proud to say: We Love The Drums! But since they already got featered a lot on this blog (that’s right, we started the hype. Now kick us in the nuts!) we have something special to share with you! 2 great covers made by the drums. First one is a download and a cover by “We used to wait”, the great new Arcade Fire song. Second one is a Supremes cover, the best one of the two but a youtube vid. Check them out:

The Drums – We Used To Wait + The Drums – Where did our love go

Last one in this list is Patti Smith. Not at all a fresh tune but a great one though. From her most famous album “Horses”, this icon made one of my favourite tracks EVER! Okay it’s a cover but probably the best cover ever made. Starting relaxed and silent, “Gloria” gives me the dancing fever at the end of the song. This really is a greaaaaat track, believe me! Enjoy it:

Patti Smith – Gloria

I know a short list, but hey I got vacation! Gotta go into the garden, kicking it with a cocktail and party all night long!

Peace!

Two artists who have release respectively two of the best albums of this year are releasing some new shit soon. Of course I’m talking about Flying Lotus and Gonjasufi, for those who don’t know these guys, shame on you! But still, I’ll give some heads-up for those who can’t follow (see that’s how friendly I am).

Flying Lotus is family from famous jazz-musicians Alice and John Coltrane (no mercy for people who don’t know who John or Alice Coltrane are) and he’s a musician and a producer, who makes hip hop injected with so much other genres you can’t really call it just hip hop anymore. He mixes jazz, dub step, hip hop, IDM, ambient and so much more in one great rich musical pile of pure gold.

The other guy I was talking about, Gonjasufi, is a discovery by Flying Lotus whou found him in San Diego where he was dj’ing, rapping and last but not least teaching yoga. Gonjasufi first made a guest appearance on one of Fly Lo’s albums and was then noticed by Warp records who offered him to record a CD, and so he did. Also this wasn’t just pure hip hop, not at all, it was a mix of ballads, folk, soul, … .

The two Cd’s I was talking about are Cosmogramma and A Sufi and A Killer, respectively from Flying Lotus and Gonjasufi, if you still looking for some great music to spend the end of the summer with then this is the shit you should listen to!

So far for the heads-up, here’s the real news Flying Lotus is bringing out a new EP, called Pattern + Grid World which will be released on the 20 th of september and Gonjasufi is releasing a remix CD called The Caliph’s Thea Party that comes out somewhere in the beginning of october. Warp Records which is the label where the CD’s will be released on is giving us a sweet preview of the two albums by letting us listen to two songs out of it. Here are the Links:

Gonjasufi – Ancestors ((Dreamtime) Mark Pritchard Rmx)

This remix is really intriguing it stretches the song out, beats it up, gives it some punches in the nuts and then leaves it somewhere bleeding to death in a dark alley, I know this really seems like a bad metaphore but that’s how I fell after listening to the song. So it isn’t really one to dance on, except for when you’re really realy really stoned or something, hey we can’t always dance! But It’s a great remix, just give it a chance.

Flying Lotus – Camera Day

“This isn’t jazz, hip hop, dubstep at all!” I hear you say: jup that’s Flying Lotus. But it’s still a damn good track and there’s something to dance on here so maybe you Dj’s could throw this one in one of your sets or maybe not, you’ll see…

Enjoy,

Hi,

I got some more news about Kanye and some about our own famous artist called Stromae, you know the one who said we should dance (pronounced donce). Well now Kanye decided to make Stromae’s hit “Alors On Dance” better. How? Well he wrote some new Rhymes on Stromae’s beats. For you to decide if he succeeded:

Stromae – Alors On Dance (Kanye West Remix)

Also Jay-Z has a new song featuring Chris Martin produced by DJ Green Latern which has a nice laidback vibe and typical Jay-Z lyrics about how people coming from the gettho make it, and become really famous and than die or suffer because of that (man Jay-Z should stop nagging from time to time, he’s not a f*cking marter bitch) but in spite of the lyrics it’s still a cool song, not an awesome song but a cool one. Here’s the link:

Jay -Z feat. Chris Martin – Most Kingz

And last but not least a new song by Nas which has some nice raw drums and typical hard Nas flows and some “vibey” (look I invented a new word) Sax. It’s a real short song but an enjoyable one…

NAS – Last Real N*gga Alive Pt 2

I’m a fucking fan, now it’s up to you here’s the link:

We got two nice track for you guys and girls! First up a nice funky and dancy re-edit by Peo de Pitte of his own remix of Drumattic Twins – Crazy Love. It’s a lovely tune and contains portions of the tune Gusto – Disco’s revenge! This new one comes so far with heavy radio support from Andi Durrant at Galaxy UK and Peo’s original remix of Crazy Love saw support from artists like Groove Armada, Fake Blood, Rico Tubbs, Laurent Garnier…. Not bad at all, hope you like it:

Second one, isn’t a partytrack but a great laidback tune. Canadian’s The Modern Men send us this track (incl free download!) and we loved it from the first listen. Some laidback electropop to match perfectly with a nice summer evening. Grab it here:

For this post I have to thank the wonderful dutch blog Hadrian Est Où? I’m following this blog for a while now and I am always surprised with the nice music on it. Today I read something about White Russia. Not the cocktail, but a London based duo. I listened to “The Solution” and really got blown away. It sounds fresh and reminds me of Portishead with a twist of The Knife. Really nice track, unfortunately their isn’t any webshop with these tracks available, nor a free download. Thank god for soundcloud in this case, where you can listen to all 4 tracks. That’s the good news, there are 4 tracks made by this band! Really loving “Charmless State” too. But actually every song has been on repeat today and everytime I’m surprised about the greatness of these songs! Got to keep track of these guys, so do you! Check out some songs, My 2 favourites right here:

I tought, this time I won’t go with the flow and follow these hypes by posting them on this blog, but damn these tracks/groups are just to good to let them pass by. So you may already know these bands, but for the people who don’t: check them out, they are really worth it!

Let’s begin with one of the greatest tracks released this year: “King of the Beach” by Wavves! It’s on their thirds record already and to be honest I’ve never heard of them but that’s no bad thing, staying underground. But now I’ve discovered Wavves and I am happy I did, “King of the beach” is such an awesome song! Tight drums, happy guitars and some catchy vocals. Really a great song, live an awesome sing-along! Other songs are sometimes a bit similar but still there is enough diversity so the cd never gets boring. Another favourite is the more psychedellic “Post Acid”. This music is called Lo-fi punk, which means recorded in a “bad” DIY way, but it all gives it more love by us. Happy to let you get to know this band, You gotta check out Wavves:

Wavves – King of the Beach

Next is softer, sunnier and has a great folk touch. The guys and girl from Allo Darlin’ give you some of the sunniest and happiest songs you’ll hear this summer. If you want a comparison: Slow club but in a more mature version. Some happy guitars, flute and vocals. This is pure summer. I love this cd! Have a listen at one of their songs!

Allo Darlin’ – Dreaming

Another hype in the making: the new Interpol album. A lot of people who wants be indie or want to be the person who knows all the unknown bands hate that other Joy Division clone called Editors but love Interpol. No idea why, I like them both. As example the new song leaked from their upcoming album sounds great! Barricade gets them back and closer to their debut album, and far away from their 2007 ‘Our love to admire’. Thank god for that! Have a listen and countdown to their new album:

Interpol – Barricade

Last hype for today: Miami Horror. They make some bloody nice stuff. Dancy disco tunes with the most catchy hooks I’ve heard this summer! The track “Holiday” is stuck on repeat in my head, but that’s just fine because it’s a goddamn nice tune! Disco will rule 2010!

Miami Horror – Holiday

Keep them hyping!

This Beligan dj made a nice and clean track with a cool build-up and some nice bleeps. Ready for release september 1st, with a great remix pack! Science & Fiction, Cucumber Revenge, Stellifi Soundsystem and Oh My Gods! got busy giving this track their own twist. My favourite is the one made by Science & Fiction, starting of quite the same as the original but giving you one crazy bassline. But all tracks are awesome, so get it while it’s fresh and hot! We offer you our favourite tracks from this FREE EP:
